Ice Fishing at Camp TahosaTahosa Ice Fishing Derbies

    (Ice conditions permitting)

Tahosa High Adventure Base is warming up for its first two ice fishing derbies. Come catch feisty brook trout in the pristine mountain lake, set in the backdrop of snow-shrouded mountains and forests.

    • Regionally famous professional fishing guide, Austin Parr will join us to help target the hot spots and instruct newcomers to “hard water” fishing.
    • Catch and release will be in effect, but Scouts working on the Fishing Merit Badge can keep and clean one fish (bring a large Ziplock bag to take the fish home). A merit badge counselor will be on hand to provide the blue card and sign off on any other completed work.
    • Fee to fish is $5.00. Rod rental is $5.00 and is payable at camp. Fee includes auger, free bait, the Scout Trout Recipe and a 10% discount at Discount Fishing Tackle on Santa Fe Drive. Limited to 35 participants.
    • Bringing your own gear? You will need your ice rod; 1/64 to 1/32-ounce Ratso, Rat Finkie, or fluorescent green/white jigs; wax worms; optional tip-up. Rag to wipe and dry your hands.
    • Dress warm. Sunglasses and water-resistant and skid resistant footwear are helpful.

For more ice fishing information, call Chuck Kubin at 303.733.0254.
