Merit Badge College

Welcome to the 2014 Centennial District Merit Badge College. This years event will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm at Aurora Central High School, 11700 E. 11th Avenue, Aurora.

Cost is $30 per Scout with your paid registration before September 15. On September 16, a late fee of $5 will be charged for registrations created and/or paid after that date. Walk in's will be charged $40 and classes will be severely limited as 99% of Scouts register and pay online before Merit Badge College.

Scouts are to be prepared and come with a Blue Card signed by their Scoutmaster. Please read the attached registration page as there are changes to this years college.

Blue Cards
Scouts are expected to demonstrate approval to take merit badge classes by presenting Scoutmaster-signed Blue Cards for chosen merit badges to their instructors.

Requirements and Workbooks
Scouts are also expected to be aware of requirements for their chosen merit badges by reviewing appropriate merit badge booklets in advance of Merit Badge College and, if desired, by downloading free workbooks from The term "pre-requisite" will not be used in the College

Attire is Field Uniform
The Aviation Merit Badge is being held Off Campus at the United Airlines Training Facility at 7500 E. 35th Avenue, Denver. Scout MUST be 12 years old. Please allow adequate time for transportation.

If you make an error in choosing a class or a Scout changes his mind on what class he would like to take, please contact JoLynne Conrad at 720.266.2135 to help make the change. Please do not create a new registration. If you create a second registration for your Scout, you will not be refunded the extra fees. Please plan accordingly as there will be NO REFUNDS.

Lunch: 11:40 - 12:15 pm . Lunch will be provided. In case of food allergies please bring your own sack lunch. No monetary credit will be given if you bring your own lunch.

Class list and availability.

Registration deadline is October 1, 2014. After this date, you can register at the College as a Walk-In for $40.

The Aurora Medical Team will be offering supplemental training and classes outside of our normal registration because they’ll be operating at our facility but separate from our registration. 

The Essentials of Merit Badge Counseling

This merit badge counselor orientation presentation provides new and prospective merit badge counselors with the basic knowledge and skills needed to get started, and can serve as a refresher to veterans. It involves a step-by-step overview of the registration and approval process, speaks to the requirement for Youth Protection training, and discusses helpful methods and resources. Participants will learn about their unique role, the process of counseling, and the related BSA national policies and procedures.

This will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the same venue as Merit Badge College, Aurora Central High School, 11700 E. 14th Avenue, Aurora. Cost is $15 and includes all materials and lunch. There are two class times, content will be the same for each class. You may register for the morning class at 9:30 am or the afternoon class at 1:30 pm.

Stay late or arrive early, have a bite of lunch with us and see how the Centennial District Merit Badge College is run.

The Centennial District is planning on having its best Fall recruitment season EVER!! Take a minute to fill out the online form and remember - neatness counts. What you type in is what you will receive.

A minimum of 24 business hours are needed to get flyers printed and ready for you. What does this mean? If you submit the request on Friday evening, your Join Night flyers will be ready the following Tuesday morning.

Centennial and Valley Districts Camporee

The Centennial & Valley Districts are Co-Hosting the 2014 Fall Camporee: Lost in the woods.

Webelos are welcome to join us, however if they spend the night they do need a sponsoring Troop. For our Webelos Scouts, a parent or guardian must attend with them.

Since we are asking for names on this registration, we are limiting each registration to 1 patrol of 8 boys. We all don't type as quickly as some and there are times where the program will "time out" leading to frustration. By limiting a registration to 8 boys (1 patrol) this hopefully will avoid some of the frustration.

When you finish adding your first patrol of 8 boys, the registration will take you to the shopping cart. On the bottom left hand side it asks you for additional shopping. By clicking there, you can register the rest of your Troop in increments of 8 boys and adults. When you complete all of your registrations, you can then click on "save" sending you to the payment section that will have the total cost for all the Scouts (Webelos) you have entered.  If you encounter ANY difficulty with registration you are welcome to contact JoLynne in the Scout office for assistance at 720.266.2135.

Journey To Excellence

Journey to Excellence is the performance recognition program for Councils, Districts, and Units. This program uses a balanced approach and key performance indicators to measure performance versus process, encourage and reward success, and achieve the mission.

This form is due to the commissioner staff no later than December 2014.

Unit Leaders - New Web Feature To Attract Potential Scouts To Your Unit

BSA has developed a new web feature called "Be A Scout". It uses Google Maps to help parents of potential new Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venture, and Explorer members to find your unit. With this feature, a parent or potential Scout enters their address and it shows the units near them and information about those units.

To make this work, you need to enter the information about your unit that you wish to present. You may enter special information about your unit, meeting times and address, leader's names, phone numbers, addresses, and e-mail addresses, and other information you wish to show potential new members. You only need to present the information you wish to. Only unit leaders (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisors, Chartered Organization Rep, or Committee Chairman) may enter the information for your unit. Make your unit's information special to attract new Scouts.
