Sports Breakfast

Welcome to the Gateway District!

The Mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral decisions throughout their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Join Nights

Do you have a Join Night coming up? By filling out and submitting the Join Night Information form, the district membership team will prepare flyers for you, provide stickers, yard signs, buddy cards, and other materials for you. Neatness counts on this form. What you type in will be what you see on your materials. We can also provide assistance running your join Scouting night!

If you need assistance or more information, contact Tobin Truslow or his assistant JoLynne at 303.455.5522.

Camp Cards

The Camp Card is designed to help units fund their way to 2014 camp programs. This is a risk-free, product sales project where all Scouts can earn their way to camp, Philmont, or other activities or simply support unit programs or supply needs. Each Camp Card will sell for only $5.00 to the general public and will have multiple food, service and entertainment discounts for the consumer to use throughout the year. The participating unit will keep up to 50% commission from the sale of each Camp Card. Commissions from the sales are encouraged to be applied toward directly sending youth to summer camp programs, however they may be used as the unit committee sees fit.

Order your Camp Cards here.

Webelos Weekend

Attention Webelos and Leaders: Register here to come and learn about the Boy Scout Program by a Boy Scout, Boy led staff while the adults attend Webelos Outdoor Leader Training. Webelos Weekend is open to all First and Second year Webelos Scouts, Webelos Leaders, and Webelos Parents. Webelos Weekend will be held at Camp Tahosa near Ward, Colorado.

Our mission is to provide each Webelos Scout and leader a most positive first Boy Scout camping experience!

Gear and Meals: Bring your own camping gear and tent as well as a sack dinner for Friday night. All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be provided by our staff. Please note on the registration if there are any allergies. We highly recommend that if you or a boy has an allergy to nuts/peanuts that you provide your own food. We can not guarantee that the cooking equipment that we use is free of nuts or peanut oil.

Activities: While the boys are off learning Scout skills by trained Boy Scouts, the adults will be attending Webelos Outdoor Training. The adults and boys will be together only for meals and in the evenings.

Boy Scout Staff

Boy Scouts and Leaders: Are you interested in running a station? Are you interested in being a Patrol Leader? We're putting together the most enthusiastic, energetic, and terrific staff Webelos Weekend has ever seen! Join us and help carry on a 37 year tradition of giving Denver Area Webelos Scouts the best camping experience they've ever had.

Staff meeting are being held every third Thursday at Faith Christian Academy (4890 Carr Street Arvada - I-70 Frontage Road and Carr) from 7pm-8pm starting March 20, 2014. Come meet the rest of the team, get valuable information and learn skills to help lead the Webelos, their Parents, and Adult Leaders.

It is highly recommend that you download and print the Leader's Guide. It includes the health form that is a mandatory item for each Scout and adult.

Cost for Webelos Weekend as a staff member is $27.00.

Scout Show

Make sure you get this great family outing on your calendar. The Scout Show is a tremendous opportunity for the public to see what Scouting is all about, with hands-on activities! Fun things at the Scout Show include archery, games, camping demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, obstacle courses, cubmobiles, Pinewood Derby car races, and activities for all ages. For all those families already involved in Scouting, it’s a great chance for Scouts to participate and experience a larger perspective of this great organization. Scouting groups from around the Denver metro area plan fun activities for this event, and many local businesses host booths with food, drinks and items for sale. The Scout Show provides inexpensive entertainment for the whole family and is open to the public.

Booth Set Up: Friday, April 25, 2014, 12:00 PM-8:00 PM
Saturday, April 26, 2014 - Doors will open at 7:00 AM for booth set up

Hosting a Scout Show booth and participating in the 2014 Scout Show, allows your Scouts to show off some of the great things they have done recently, or develop a new and exciting activity for your Scouts to create. Ideas for a Scout Show booth can be found throughout the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Exploring and Venturing programs, and should incorporate this year's. Let your Scouts get creative and have fun with this, but please review the Guide to Safe Scouting before finalizing your booth plans to ensure your unit's booth is Scouting appropriate. Have Fun!

Register for a booth here.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Cub Scout Day Camp provides fun and adventure in the outdoors for packs and dens. Cub Scout Day Camp registration is open to all registered Cub Scouts. Day Camp is very affordable. Fees include hat, t-shirt, water bottle, activity patch and program.  The Gateway District Cub Scout Day Camp will be from June 24-27th from 3-8pm at the LDS Alkire Building. Get more registration information here. There is a discount if you register before 5/25 as well as one if your unit hits its Investment in Character goal.

This is a valuable activity for many reasons:

  • Promotes fun and adventure with a purpose; Day Camp is a huge reason why Cub Scouts join, and why they remain Cub Scouts.
  • Helps the Cub Scouts succeed, and provides significant rank advancement opportunities.
  • Offers character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
  • Meets individual boy's needs and interests by offering a fun, meaningful, and educational Scouting program.
  • Helps to recruit new boys into the den and pack during the summer.
  • Provides a method of recruiting, training and inspiring present and future Cub Scout adult leadership.
  • Provides the opportunity for units to earn the National Summertime Pack Award, and to work toward qualifying for the Journey to Excellence Award.

Membership Recruitment

Recruitment efforts take place throughout the year. Gateway District Scouting units conduct a coordinated effort to enroll new members to join Scouting in the Spring. The Fall Recruitment effort focuses on recruiting boys that are K through 4th grades, but is not limited to that. The Boy Scouts recruit 5th-11th grade young men and Venturing recruits 8th grade young men and women between ages 13-20.
