Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is a hands-on training program to give adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the outdoors. Imagine having hands-on knowledge about setting up a campsite, pitching a tent, hiking, outdoor cooking—all the skills necessary to see the outdoor program of the Boy Scouts of America come to life.

What to Bring: "Personal Camping Checklist" (see Scout Handbook (12th ed.), pg 292)

  • Health Form Parts A & B (required)
  • Boy Scout Handbook
  • The Scout Basic Essentials (see Handbook, pg 264)
  • Clothing appropriate for the season (warm-weather or cold-weather)
  • Personal Camping Gear
  • Sleeping Gear
  • Backpack w/rain cover
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad T
  • Tent
  • Ground cloth
  • Eating Kit (spoon, plate, bowl, cup)
  • Cleanup Kit (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste

Optional personal items:

  • Watch
  • Camera
  • Notebook w/ pen/pencil
