Memorials/Tributes/Recognition

A memorial donation to the Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is a loving way to celebrate the life of a Scoutmaster or other volunteer leader, Eagle Scout, BSA Alumnus, Charter Organization Representative, parent, or Scout supporter. Your gift can also be in recognition of a special occasion including birthdays, rank advancements, anniversaries, job promotions, or to honor the memory of a family member or friend.

Our Memorial Fund recognizes the contributor and routes a dignified notification to the honoree or family. All proceeds support Scouting programs for the more than 55,000 youth served in the Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

For more information on the Scout Memorial Fund, please contact Anne Herriage at 720.266.2147.

2015 Memorial Gifts

A gift in memory of a loved one will provide a new beginning for a young person in the Scouting program.

In Loving Memory of Glenn R. Jones

The Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is privileged to have counted Glenn R. Jones as a dear friend. The Board of Trustees and Executive Board of the Denver Area Council express their sympathy at the recent loss of Glenn R. Jones and extend their appreciation for the legacy of civic leadership he embodied.

Glenn R. Jones has spent five decades extending the reach of technology, first by bringing cable television to American homes, then by fusing education with the internet to deliver education to lifelong learners everywhere. Mr. Jones served in the U.S.. Navy as an officer in the pacific amphibious assault unit and as an explosive ordnance disposal officer. After the navy, he attended the University of Pennsylvania law school for two years, then obtained his juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado. He has been an active member of the Denver Area Council's Board and Trustees for the past 25 years and was recognized as a Lifetime Trustee. Glenn has also been recognized by the National Eagle Scout Association as a Distinguished Eagle Scout for his work nationally and internationally. Glenn also made a gift to Colorado Adventure Point to establish the "Glenn R. Jones Cyberdome." This technological infrastructure will allow Colorado Adventure Point to deliver experiential education at the speed of the 21st century. This facility infrastructure has made possible the Cyber Scouting program that uses technology to bridge language and geographic barriers, allowing Scouts to interact with the world in a unique online and virtual environment. Dedicated to providing a safe, cyber bully free facility that is efficient, safe, technologically advanced, and ready to serve our Scouts locally and across the world.

He has truly made a difference in the lives of thousands of young people in the Denver community by helping us deliver a value based, character building program. The Council currently serves 55,000 youth and throughout the years, Mr. Jones used his visionary foresight to assist the Denver Area Council in becoming one of the largest Councils in the country.

In Loving Memory of Donald E. Scott

The Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is privileged to have counted Donald E. Scott as a dear friend. The Board of Trustees and Executive Board of the Denver Area Council express their sympathy at the recent loss of Don Scott and extend their appreciation for the legacy of civic leadership he embodied.

Don became an Eagle Scout in 1963 and was awarded the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award in 2011- a prestigious recognition granted by the National Eagle Scout Association to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level.

Mr. Scott served on the Denver Area Council's Executive Board since 1986 and joined the Board of Trustees in 2008. Most recently, he had served as the Executive Vice President for the Denver Area Council. He provided support for capital improvements for our Boy Scout Camps, including Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch and Tahosa High Adventure Base.

He has truly made a difference in the lives of thousands of young people in the Denver community by helping us deliver a value based, character building program. The Council currently serves 55,000 youth and throughout the years, Mr. Scott used his visionary foresight to assist the Denver Area Council in becoming one of the largest Councils in the country.

In Loving Memory of James B. Wallace

The Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is privileged to have counted James B. Wallace as a dear friend. The Board of Trustees and Executive Board of the Denver Area Council express their sympathy at the recent loss of Jim Wallace and extend their appreciation for the legacy of civic leadership he embodied.

James B. Wallace was a longtime Denver oil and gas man, former chairman ande CEO of Grease Monkey International, Inc., and a man who could do deals on a handshake. He also served as a director for several oil and gas companies in town. He served on the Board of Directors of Tom Brown, Inc. until its sale to EnCana Oil and Gas USA Inc. Mr. Wallace also served on the boards of Delta Petroleum, Ellora Energy, and Savant Resources.

After serving in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, Mr. Wallace spent seventeen years working in the oil business in Texas, then he and his associates moved their oil and gas company to Denver. Mr. Wallace was one of four founders of Brownlie, Wallace, Armstrong and Bander Exploration in Denver, which was an oil and gas company that was active in the Rockies in the 1970s and 1980s.

Mr. Wallace was the Honorary Lifetime Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, Denver Area Council, where he served on the Board of Trustees since April 1985. Jim made a major contribution to the success of the Denver Area Council and was instrumental in recruiting key community and business leaders to the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board, which continues to be one of the strongest boards today.
