National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program for Boy Scout and Venturing Junior Leaders which provides youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use both in and outside of Scouting: in their home troops, crews, churches, families, school, and other situations
Every NYLT at Big Horn course operates according to Scouting ideals – those of Scouts BSA and Venturing. Each participant and staff member is welcomed, appreciated, and valued. An NYLT Course models “The Perfect Troop” and we strive to provide an outstanding experience for all our participants.
Staff members are required to attend all six days of their NYLT course. They will also be expected to attend several staff development sessions in preparation for their course.. They will be expected to attend and support at least one NYLT participant orientation. There will be other opportunities to support Council events as well.. The Scoutmaster and SPL will provide the dates for these meetings. If a staffer has conflicts with one or more of these events, they should discuss this with the SPL, Scoutmaster, and Course Director. Exceptions may be possible.
