Jenga, checkers and chess. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd

combined Exploring, Sea and Venturing Scouts.

Have a conversation with your Chartering Organization about the next steps for you. Space is starting to open up! 

For information regarding the most up to date health orders and how they affect unit activities please take the following steps:

1. Be safe and provide options for every family to participate
2.. Consult with your Charter Organization to determine what rules or guidance they are operating under
3. Review the most current State of Colorado orders, as well as the Colorado guidelines that apply to the dial level for the county where you will be conducting your meeting/activity
4. Review any county variances or restrictions that are different or in addition to the county level requirements
5. Contact the facility where you plan to hold you activity to learn what riles or guidance they are implementing for operations.

Roundtable

The Black Feather Roundtable takes place the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Check out the NEW Roundtable Calendar, we look forward to seeing you.  Due to an increase in COVID cases, we are moving our Roundtables back to Zoom.

Recruiting

Follow these 5 steps to have a successful Fall recruitment season!

  1. Discuss your Fall Membership Plan with your District Executive.
    • How many youth do you want to recruit?
    • How many adults do you want to recruit?
    • When are your Join Nights scheduled?
  2. Have a conversation with the Principal of each school you recruit from to discuss what kind of access you will have for recruiting season.
    • Can we put up posters, yard signs, do flyers, hand out stickers, create an event on the social media, put an event on the marquee, etc.?
  3. Order FREE recruiting materials below.
  4. Enter geofencing locations to get sponsored advertising for your Join Night/Sign-Up Night! Must be TWO WEEKS in advance.
  5. Come to the August Roundtable to learn about how to hold a successful Join Night/Sign-Up Night!

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a training course for Cub Scout Leaders. One BALOO trained leader is required to be at each Cub Scout overnighter.

  • April 29-30, 2022, McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.  Register here.
  • May 14-15, 2022, 2001 Historic Park Way, Fort Lupton, CO 80621.  Register here.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is a training course for Scouts BSA Leaders. One leader is required to be IOLS trained on each campout.   The next two IOLS courses are

  • April 29-30 2022, Location TBD.  Register here.
  • May 6-7 2022, McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley (PV).  Register here.

Registration is open for both IOLS courses.

Woodbadge, which is advanced adult leader training is highly recommended.  While aimed at the Scouting program, this course is a general leadership program similar to what corporations pay thousands of dollars to send their up and coming managers to.  You must be position trained in your primary Scouting position to attend.  Upcoming Woodbadge courses are listed below.

  • April 8-10 and April 23-24, 2022.  Joy Hawkins, our former District Commissioner, is the course director.  Location is McNeill Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.  Registration is here.
  • September 9-11 and September 17-18, 2022.  Pattie Nortman is the course director.  Location is McNeill Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.  Registration is here.

Black Feather District Committee/Commissioner Meetings

The Black Feather District Committee and Commissioner Staff meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.  The district hosts a district leadership meeting for all district volunteers followed by short breakout sessions for committees and teams to meet and plan upcoming activities and organize service to units seeking additional assistance.

All district committee/commissioner meetings will take place via Zoom for the foreseeable future. All registered commissioners and district members will receive login information for the meetings via email. If you would like to be added to the distribution list, please contact our District Commissioner, Mike Ober.
