Denver Area council - gateway district

The Gateway District serves 2,700 youth in North Jefferson, Gilpin, Broomfield, and Clear Creek Counties. The Key 3 (District Chair, District Commissioner, and District staff), meet on a monthly basis to discuss the activities in the Gateway District.

Gateway District Committee Meetings

The District Committee staff meeting takes place the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at opens in a new windowWheat Ridge United Methodist Church, at 7530 W. 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO.

Merit Badge Counselors

To qualify as a merit badge counselor, one must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be proficient in the Merit Badge subject by vocation, avocation, or special training
  • Be able to work with Scout-age boys
  • Be registered with the Boy Scouts of America

The Boy Scouts of America requires all Merit Badge Counselors (MBC) to re-register every year or they will be dropped from the list. If you do not turn in your renewal form, then you will not be registered. All adults who wish to register as an MBC MUST submit an MBC application form and an adult application (with position code 42).
