In 2019, we will again partner with 9News to “Scout for Food” and donate to the 9Cares Colorado Shares food drive. The food drive provides food to more than 100 food banks throughout the Metro area.

Door hangers will be provided for Scouts to deliver to their neighborhoods on November 9, 2019 with a request to fill a bag with food. Filled bags will be picked up on the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Marketing materials will be available for September Round Table meetings and units may pick up Scouting for Food door hangers at the October and November Round Table meetings, or Hamilton Scout Headquarters.

Units will need to total the amount of food items collected for their Scouting for Food report before delivering all food items to one of collection sites. Food can be delivered on November 16, 2019, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All Scouting units are encouraged to participate in this council-wide community service initiative. Scouting for Food participation will inspire our young people and teach them the importance of community service. Service is a key ingredient in Citizenship! It will also reinforce Scouting's positive contribution to the general community.

Each unit should select a Scouting for Food Coordinator and begin planning.

    Reporting Requirements After the Drive

After completion of Scouting for Food when food is delivered to 9Cares Colorado Shares on November 16, 2019 through December 30, 2019, record your collection numbers.

Report Service Hours for Journey to Excellence to National BSA

To reach "Gold" status for Journey to Excellence, Packs and Ships must report four service projects each year. Troops and Crews must report six service projects each year.

Log in and report your unit's JTE service projects here...

Here are some helpful hints for recording your JTE service project hours:
    1. Your Unit ID is the same number used by your unit when recording Internet Advancement. If you do not know this number, please contact the Council Service Center at 303.455.5522.
    2. The Denver Area Council is Council number 061.
    3. Your local unit number must be four (4) digits. If your pack/troop number is only two (2) or three (3) digits, front fill with zeroes i.e. Pack 123 becomes Pack 0123.
